Yeah, I pretty much downloaded Blender and started using it like it was 3dsmax. To really get into it might take a little longer, as any software with that many feature, but it's pretty intuitive! Add the poly reducer from 2.49, please!
If this is your only problem with keyshot, you could just render out a UV template in 3dsMax and apply it as a texture, you'll have your wireframe then. Unless you want it to be see-through which isn't very readable anyways.

Xview https://help.autodesk.com/view/3DSMAX/2018/ENU/?guid=GUID-40164BD8-6EA5-4D42-A54E-FB33CFDC179D My bad. Xview doesn't have this. Polygon Select menu under Graphite Modeling tools has it though!
Hey Dan, thanks. What happens when you Add a Edit Poly modifier to your Cylinder? What does the Cylinder look like then? My goal was a editable cylinder with holes with good shading only in 3dsmax, no zBrush.
@Zocky Thanks! Yeah if I have the time I'll try to set up lights to have shadows like the concept. Right now in 3DSMax I have a top light but the lantern light makes the roof shadow disappear...
I can see that being useful to set 3dsmax's Autobackup to there. I have it set for every 10mins, and on heavier scenes it can be a pain in the ass sometimes. Every 10mins I get a 10-15secs wait while it saves.
renderhjs' ported/recreated TexTools 3dsMax for BLENDER. They, as in Max, are a lifesaver. Blender TexTools Polycount thread Blender TexTools Download Also, you can duplicate the window (Ctrl Alt W ) and dedicate it for working UV/image editor.
Well in 3dsmax the easiest way is to just turn renderable on on a spline and set the width and uv mapping. You can cut the polys down dynamically by altering the interpolation of the spline. Very good for doing knots and crazy wiring too.
I ported the blender method to 3dsmax (for those that dont have max8 which has similar functionality) http://www.planetquake.com/polycount/cottages/crazybutcher/code/_3dsmax.html it isnt perfect yet, and not all works as it should, but it does the job
