That is not currently possible but it something we will likely add in the future. If you have a good enough GPU you may be able to simply load your highpoly into Toolbag though - on my GXT 980 I've tested scenes with up to 50 million triangles.
A new week meant a new assignment in school. Creating an FPS weapon. We had 3000 tris to work with, and this is what I came up with. Never worked with highpoly to lowpoly before, it was an interesting assignment. Normalmap Created using Maya Baking and Ndo2.
Nice highpoly! I would change only one thing, and thats the spur wheels. They aren't functional how they are at the moment.Looks like they don't do anything, they are just there. Except this, its a spectacular model! I hope we can see this finished once.
I created the highpoly in zbrush then created the low rez in maya. Brought both into maya and did a bake in maya with all the edges soften. I ran the object base normal first. Then I did the tangent base normal. I post an example.
Does anyone know if what I'm trying to do isn't a waste of time? I find that If I want to fuse objects together my highpoly needs to be adjusted and be perfect for this kind of lowpoly. Maybe saved texture space isn't worth the trouble...
I've been working on my highpoly, starting from rocks kit, metal pieces, trees, and the big cistern. Now I have a global scene I can work with! Need to do the topology, so I can start some textures!
Yes its from model to model and how build it. If you are going to bake a normal map from a highpoly different rules will apply then if its just a lowpoly. You should definately make those edges hard on that model imo or bevel the edges.
Hey Ekoplex, I used one of them in [ame=" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ERZDk01JL8"]HighPoly Modeling : 3DS Max M4 Front Sight - YouTube[/ame] this video. Thanks, hope you make some more that are a little longer also.
Character design does look great! I'm wondering why you bother with the highpoly tho. Seems like it would be more time effective to just make the low poly and paint on that, especially since round shapes won't bake very well.
Hi Maxxi, I'm just trying to get a few more details before I gauge a price range for this project. What sort of materials you were aiming for? Is this going to be photo-realistic or a more stylized piece? Is it a highpoly or lowpoly model? Thanks!
