Hi there! I'll be participating in this contest as well. I'll be taking the challenge upon the Turret and the den. Still undecided to which theme/element that I'll be aiming for. Will post an update with a ref board asap. Good Luck everyone, can't wait to see others.
Worked on the face and body porportions. Adding detail to elements that will benefit from working in a symmetrical t pose (arms, hands, shoes etc) Trying to leave the tiny details and surface texture to the very end but ooooo boy it's tempting
A great looking project, will we have a playable demo? I love VR projects and this one is looking fantastic, great idea to theme it in this era. The type writer looks outstanding, any chance of some wireframes of any of the elements.
block everything out based of whatever you have in the concept and start doing adjustments in 3D. Plan all assets build all structural elements on the grid if possible and keep it modular it will save you time in the long run.
I think you may want to re-order your content somewhat. Your demoreel from 2009 is probably much less relevant that your work on Tron for example. Just consider the placement of all the elements closely.
export as an OBJ without smoothing groups or normals. delete the meshes re import them This will trash all your normal data and recalc it. This would be a good time to post a max file. just 1 element would be enough
Hi everyone , I know I am a bit late compaired to some of you , nice progress !! But this is my work so far ... Next step : to put all my elements in the game engine and to start on my textures .
I used to bake parts seperately but I just did a bunch by exploding the elements and it is a real time saver. If parts are intersecting in a really complicated way I would then bake them seperately, but in future I will try and avoid that.
Yeah, so putting UI/HUD elements like in that image doesn't make sense. My concern is people making poor design decisions that force me to look down for no other reason than to use this new gadget.
Valve games. Specifically Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead. I love talking about the intricate balancing of design elements, the way their art style complements the game's design. They're . . . games of beauty :) . . . very specific >_>
