Could be you have Image Alpha on in the Diffuse slot, which causes the Diffuse bitmap to mix its colors with the Diffuse color. If so, either change the Diffuse bitmap's Alpha Source to "None {Opaque)" or set the Diffuse color to black. Or... could be this. 3dsmax - tiled alpha issue
Yea all of the 3dsmax "spinners" (up and down arrows) you can click and drag up or down on and it will adjust the value up and down right along with the amount you drag. Seems like pushing a key a bunch of times would be just as tedious as pushing a mouse button?
Excellent reel. I followed your Unearthly entry last year and it was a great piece (it still is btw). If ever you wanna make a small tutorial on how you made those rain drips animations+normal maps in 3Dsmax, it would be great share. Good luck
Hey James, the 'volver turned out excellent! I think you did a great job on the handle, I really like the little grooves and cracks in the wood. Here's to another completed project, and hopefully 3dsmax won't get you mangry again (that'll be the day) ;D
Seems you input normal maps wrong : in mental ray (3dsmax) arch&design material you should put normal bump map in bump map slot, and set strengh to 1.0 default is 0.3. Thats why your normals dont have effect in renders.
nice entries. /me drools over EQ's lightwave pics I used LW for three years, but have been required to use 3dsmax for the past 3. Looks like LW8 is quite cleaner than it's predecessors - I might have to look into picking it up again
I had the same problem with the model i exportrd from 3dsMax with no preset and nothing changed on the export menu of .obj , It seemed to effect only one side of the model. Still dont understand how to use dDo so would love to see a tut on basic dDO wrk flow.
Make sure your xforms are reset. Open the Paint Weights Dialog. Raise the "Tree Depth" and "Lag Rate" to get better performance. For more information see here: http://docs.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/15/ENU/3ds-Max-Help/files/GUID-088FF859-9D30-468B-A68F-EC912F69BEFA.htm

God i need to learn how to use graphite. Far too limited in my knowledge of 3dsmax 2012... Barely scratched 2009 and then went an got 2012 (stu) an they've piled on the new tools! 'Swift loop' is the only real tool i know out of graphite's jewels aha
