You can push a lot more polys then that if you are just doing one character on screen. I don't know exact numbers but it should be easy to test once you get it into Unity. I'd try pushing to like 7-8k at least. You might be able to go even higher if the background env is not complex. You can always LOD if you need to. -

Thank you. I have been trying to push myself to draw at least 7 hours a week on top of my studio classes. I really need to get into the darn 3d... I have both maya and max and yet I still have to learn it... I keep on feeling like I need to just focus on my drawing and painting skills first... -

Week 7 of working on this particular environment. I've gotten the post processing/LUT to a place I'm really liking, it was terribly desaturated before but after some tweaking in Photoshop I think it has more of that colorful reef feel. Well I had some other issues over the weekend so I did a complete re-install of windows 7. And now its all fine, dont need process lasso after all. It must have been some driver conflict or something. Now i`m rendering (in normal priority) whilst multitasking and music playing without a single stutter. -

Yup I am using windows 7 64 bit and using a tablet as well, seems to only happen when im using the tablet. I am going to try Bens idea for turning that stuff off, I am pretty sure that is the problem, because if it was photoshop making the noise, I am sure there would be an option to turn it off. I cant remember when that first model was from....7/8 years ago? Maybe more. I think it was one of my first attempts at a 'proper' character model, organically modeled and all that fancy jazz. I stopped there as I didnt know how to 'texture map' (had no idea what that entailed) yet. :/ And most recent stuff. Still tons… -

I've tried that and it does not work. :/ But the issue is happening on both my work machine and my home machine. At work, I have 3ds Max 2014 and Windows 7. At home, I have 3ds Max 2016 Student and Windows 10. I'm not sure what kind of service packs I have, but I'm pretty sure I should be up to date on both of them. -

Yeah, that's Nuke, they are offering a non commercial version if you want to try it: https://www.thefoundry.co.uk/products/nuke/non-commercial/ There is also Fusion, available in Free version, 7 and 8 Beta.
