Thing is you really shouldn't need the renderer anymore? There are good scripts that capture high-res anti aliased images without much hassle. It's been years since I've used Mental Ray or Vray for displaying any game art. On top of that, portfolio-wise I actually think displaying finished pieces with a shader/realtime app…
Im assuming youre looking for a track period and not necessarily looking to licence something, having said that these might fit what youre looking for. I can throw up more suggestions if these dont work: Come Wander with Me, Jeff Alexander: [ame=" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBzlhIYELeM"]Jeff Alexander - Come Wander…
if you are willing to troubleshoot the amd in case there are driver issues because you want more cores or vram then that is an option. i have heard there cards are much better now. but nvidia cards are better supported. you will have less trouble i think. the EVGA GTX 660TI is a nice card.
Thanks for reply. I group the polygroups and now its doing new problem with big black spots. Is that becaus my weird Uv master unwrap? It was my first try with it. This model just doing problems, i should do new and try it again. PS: I tried exporting without goz(exporting level 4 model), then add textures, normal and…
Mental ray is a disaster when it comes to baking normal maps. It messes up the padding, it incorrectly assigns the background as the environment color even when the correct color is set as the "background" in RTT. It also takes longer and unless you crank up the Final Gather settings which increases the render time it will…
I don't use nitrous, so i couldn't tell for real time display, but when rendering in linear workflow (which is the correct way to render) with gamma input at 2.2, you have to "manually" override gamma of all normal maps and other "mathematical" maps to 1, so they don't get corrected. Or set input to 1 and override diffuse…
Yeah.. 2017 problem doesn't happen for everybody. Our studio had to move to 2017 from 2016 because of some important fixes(TrackView, Obj poly export) and enhancement(alembic and python). So far 2017 has been a lot stable than 2016. We also install almost all commercial plugins FumeFX, VRay. All Thinkbox, Itoo. Even then…
I would start with what programs you are going to use and figure out which brand will work best. As far as raw power goes AMD and NVidia are fairly close (in the mid to high end price range anyway). I have used AMD for the last 5 or 6 years and they work well for most things. However, I have been using VRay for rendering…
Fiend update. Messing with texture still. I also wanted to see if I could structure my pipeline in a way that allows me to easily offer both a real-time version of the creature, as well as a rendered cinematic version. With that, the first image is a vray render, second is a viewport screengrab.
