Today was UV unwrapping (8/26). I stacked the mirrored sides and left the hair asymmetrical. I'm going to research more about hair strands for the next character. If you have any suggestions for improvement on UV unwrapping/layout please do share.
Retop and UV layout are done, and I got my normals baked. They're pretty clean, aside from the front points on his undershell, but I was expecting to have to clean those up a little, considering how I built it. Time for some painting!
I love the old IBM mechanical keyboards. Had one (not IBM) that lasted 12 years till it was crushed by 50lbs of equipment. Moved on to Filco, same layout, same heafty weight. Nice STFU "clickety-clack-clickety-clack!!". Mouse = Logicool G700
That looks good! Could you share the UV layout, or maybe post a screengrab of the model with a UVW Unwrap modifier so we can see the seams on the model. I know jack about baking mechanical models and it'd be very good reference.
I would imagine that the switch to 8 gbs changed up the layout, hence no finalized console images. But seriously, if not seeing the console itself is a huge deal to you, I think you are missing the big picture. I came away very impressed with Sony.
I would make the drawers single objects. I'm not sure why you would break them up or why the UV layout would matter for a movable object? UE4 can't lightmass movables so you don't even need a lightmap channel.
I see some horizontal artifacts in the middle of some of the shells, that is odd. I'm not 100% on that, but looking at your layout here are some things I would improve that may clear up any artifacts, especially along edges if you straighten your UVs.
Oh....oh god. I haven't updated in some time. Welp, back to work! Layout is kind of bad right now but I am still lacking a number of assets. Once I get more to work with I'll also be tweaking the lighting of course.
Tihihihi Buttres :D But seriously im not a huge fan of the first scene. The crossbow is great. A big nono for me is to have black background with really dark scenes. Makes it really hard to see anything. I like the layout of the page, simple and straight foreward.
Wow, this is a pretty much perfect portfolio imo. Great work, neat layout, nice. Also, like STJoris said, everythings polished to a T, which really brings the pieces out. Quick tech question, which shader are you using that supports opacity?
