it really makes me sad how people equate higher polygons and bigger textures as 'better graphics' even if the art is nowhere near as elegant or proficient. like when people say PSP games have better graphics than DS games hands down...(like, all of them, not on a case by case basis as it should be) ugh.
wow. All this stuff is going straight to my inspiration folder. If you use the obj converter, it extracts the textures out too. I can't wait for the KH stuff. I really wanna see how they pulled off the amazing look of KH2 on the PS2. I have a sneaking suspicion of how they got the ultra sharpness.
Single-player alone was a big enough draw for me, after having put a stupid amount of time into the first one (that along with san andreas trashed my 2nd gen ps2's lens/laser/motor :p ). Co-op is just really sweet icing on that cake (especially with it being properly dropin dropout). :D
Found more pics of the FF13 hair dithering. Video comparison here, 360 vs. PS3. Hair looks like a combo of alpha blend and alpha test with dither... http://ve3d.ign.com/videos/play/68727/Xbox-360/Final-Fantasy-XIII/Trailer/Playstation-3-vs-Xbox-360-Visual-Comparison/Flash-Video
Hey awesome stuff as always. I learned to use a single pixel brush from you back when you did that Darth Maul paint over .psd, which seems like a bazillion years ago now. Your stuff Rocks man! Keep inspiring future generations of game artists! DOWIII Entry
MGS3 is an excellent game over all. As far as the camera goes you can have as much control as you want over it by just switching to first person mode. I ended up doing most of my looking and shooting in first person. I really think this game is top notch when it comes to ps2 games.
I read this method through Brome's site, I like it alot and though I don't do too much uploading my old html site, I'm making one anyways so I wouldn't have to regret it onwards. I made my html by slicing up a psd and exporting them to dreamweaver...
I think there was a techtv segment where some girl smashed up each system in many different ways. The PS2 cd tray cover is always the first to go. I don't think it's fastened or glued on at all. She dropped them from several feet, and played sledgehammer golf, and the Gamecube still worked like a charm.
Yeah...my family would always laugh when Mr. Bean was on. However they were laughing at me...and why on earth I thought he was so hilariously funny. Do this day...I can watch rerun after rerun and still laugh like it was the first time I'd seen it. Too bad it's for PS2 and not Wii though.
Insomniac is a solid developer. I love the stylistic work they do in their Ratchet and Clank titles. Just remember, more Ratchet and Clank, less Deadlocked. From the early previews, it looks like that's the direction they're headed anyway. Your art should make a fine contribution to the next title. Hopefully, I'll have a…
