Starting to firm up textures and architectural elements. Replacing "blocky" blockout meshes. Created master materials with the ability to adjust albedo colors within a material instance, so I can match hues better between meshes.
I would definitely tweak with the lighting to focus more on the focal point of your scene. The background elements look like they have the same amount of contrast as the fore and mid-ground stuff. Adding fog will help alleviate that problem.
So, I didn't die or anything, but I did get distracted with other work and life. I'm back to it though, added some hard surface elements and hoping to have more progress by tonight. Crits welcome as always!
YOU BEAT ME TO NERDGASMING HERE GAAAAAAAAH I'm freakin psyched about this, they seem to be putting elements of the X series in huh. Did I also spy something that looked like it was from the Megaman Zero universe too?
I'm definitely not blown away by this game. Took everything that made the first one so scary and great, and completely removed those elements. The art isn't even that great, everything is so low res and the engine is pretty ugly.
@trebor777: That's so cool! I never knew you could do that. The split by UVs trick is cool, and you can also split it a mesh apart by elements by using the "Auto groups" button, but the UV trick is more efficient.
this is looking great! really love this stylized ver. Are you thinking of creating all 4 different elemental benders? would be great to see all of them together. Each with its own personality. Like TEAM AVATARRRR!!! =D
I like tuttles. Gonna have to agree with SupRore - a little to busy overall but maybe if you color it that will help the separate elements stand out. Like give the turtle a nice "turtely" green and the arms a yellow? but the modeling is tops
Is this 100% self illuminated, or is there a special shader involved? Only 1 critique - it looks like you've used 8 sided cylinders for everything, even though there's a huge difference in size between elements. (such as the robot head vs the handlebars)
Thanx a lot for comments. Yes, the concept is mine for our little project I will try to update it soon as possible. Next 4k triangles will be for additional, small elements and to make some sharp edges a little bit smoother. Cheers
