Even better, you can use the Mrgbz grabber to capture materials applied to your canvas. There is still a seam problem which will show up at the boundaries of the textures if shadows are on when doing a best render. I would suggest to experiment with the matcaps. I think you're right Mr.Jar0, i need to add more specific wear and tear and clean up the mesh, the weird feeling might be because the wear is not specific enough. Thanks for the feedback ! -

@mrhobo a lot of the parts are just there to represent where surface bevels will be on the final mesh, just blocking everything out right now. @Selaxnog, yea i was trying to get the small parts under the jaw line to kind of roll backwards but it needs a bit of thinking, everything will have small wires and hydraulics… -

I think it might be due to the dust layer in the "atmosphere" that catches the light reflected from the surface and blocks weak incoming light. Similarly to Earth's atmosphere gases during daylight. You would like to use Mray for that. Using mray "Batch bake" is better and you could just select to bake on verts and "lighting" info only on the menu. Make sure that after you have baked use the "modulate" or "add" on the "material blend settings". Also remember to set it to AMbient+Diffuse on the "Color Material Channel"…
