Developing for U3, besides some bugs, has been a breeze. It's insanely easy to get your stuff into the game and have it looking GREAT. EDIT:"While Epic will continue enhancing and improving Unreal Engine 3 for the next four or five years, work has already begun on Unreal Engine 4, which the company sees as a powering force…
Not finished, but since I will not have time anymore to achieve the work I call it done : The following is a school's work, I had to make a jeep car the most realistic as possible regardless the modeling but with a limit of 4500 tri. From the engine to the side mirrors. The target was the Playstation Portable (PSP).
The remake looks like it uses actual hair splines or something: https://www.polygon.com/2018/1/30/16946392/shadow-of-the-colossus-review-remake-ps4-playstation-sony Look at one of the full frame shots halfway down the page, those hairs are individual, most probably a LOD though.
So.. it has been 2.5 years since I posted here. "UE4, Unity, Max, Maya, Nuke, Mari, Houdini, V-Ray, Arnold, Playstation, Windows, Mac, Zbrush etc will all have compatible shaders" has happened? I'll check 2.5 year later again.
You mean the first one? Tons of a games from back then used "fog" or had what was pretty much a thick fog all over the place, especially Playstation games where performance would've gotten a swift kick in the ass otherwise. Hell, just think of the first Tony Hawk.
I held the previous gen controller in my hands and it was surprising, after being used to the slow evolution of the Playstation and Xbox controllers over the years it was the first time feeling something new in my hands. Quality of education can vary heavily. Being taught obsolete workflows by someone who hasn't worked in the industry since PlayStation one days can be detrimental. I completely agree that the real work is done outside of the classroom and you will constantly have to supplement your education. Good luck!
[ QUOTE ] I'll agree with that, Peter. Contrary to the commercials, game artists don't just sit around "tightening up the graphics" with nothing more than a degree from a cheap college and a PlayStation controller. [/ QUOTE ] Man you must work for the wrong company that's all I do all day
