I would recommend updating to the latest version as we made a lot of adjustments and fixes on the baking part since 4.4 (like padding to avoid this kind of issues). -

Just went through this. It was better to buy a new mobo, CPU and ram than to replace my motherboard ($240 to replace vs $450 for new current bits).
