Hey Lokies (hopefully you check back periodically). I was just wondering how much time your given on a piece like the Steam Shovel and the Ring and Support models. If you did just the high, or the high / low / texture. Really clean work too, great job.

1) There is lots of edge rings around the eye but not here which when subdivided a lot this would be very uneven area of the eye which would have less polygons 2) Firstly to support 1 and you have a line there which would could extend for extra geo in that area of the back which needs it
Well, I guess I'll throw my hat into the ring for this one. Looks fun. Heres a blockout in UDK: And a better blockout in maya: I have to redo my scaling and such so everything snaps correctly, cause right now, it doesn't snap right in udk. but this is what i got right now.
Ok, I've made some alterations to improve the final print. Moved the helmet so it's all one piece with the body and removed the rings from the blaster. I also added some sci fi details to the base, as 3DKlassen suggested, and some general sharpening and further attention to the sculpt. Here's the latest render:
Thanks for the feedback, FirebornForm. I was having issues getting the themes written in the OP to match the themes I was painting. This certainly went a little Lord Of The Rings in parts, but overall feels like it's getting closer. Also, that Swamp of Sadness scene is a dead ringer to the tar I'd been picturing in my…
Are you certain the column is rectangular rather than circular? The top at least looks conical rather than pyramidical, and that would imply that the entire wooden post is circular. You're currently missing the clips from the bottom metal ring to the wooden post. The clips on both the bottom and the top should only be on…
1: Too many polys here (Not this picture cannot see it but its the way you capped it off 2: I think that cylinder is too high polys 3: That edge ring is pointless get rid of it 4: Suggestion to get rid of that ngon 5: pointless edge creating extra poly was removed
thanks for reply :) . Do you use opacity map to make the chainmail transparent in the empty area? How do you make such opacity map? Also is that an easy process to bake a normal map for the chainmail so the metal ring has more dimensional feel while the empty area are transparency by the opacity map?
Cheeseontoast, how many parts is this basket made of? I'm thinking the top and bottom ring are the same object twice, the walls around the basket's another object, and there probably is another one for the bottom of it (and ofc the bread and cloth, etc). But I can't not wonder if you somehow did it with just 1 object for…
