Ya, I agree with you. Here's the reference I used for it. I spent a couple weeks on her, on and off... I'm going to tweak the dirt, I'll probably add some stones on the path for starters. I also want to add dirt clods around the edges so the edge isn't nearly as harsh. Thanks for the tips!
Good base on the stones! I do think it could use some more life though.. Some mos and dirt for example. May i ask, how did you do it? Is it just models dropped on the canvas or are they actual 3D objects place in full 3D space? If so, how did you go about it?
What is your concept? Texture size looks off as Drav said. Materials dont read very well. Scale of some of the building looks odd like the door. The steps I do not think should be made of wood, most likely all stone. The building needs more detail, gothic architecture is very intricate.
Posed him and made a few minor changes. I'm working on the base for him to stand on now. I'm planning on having him standing on a pedestal, and the ground will be sand with foot prints in the sand, and some water in the foot prints. I'll probably throw some little stones in there and maybe a dead bush or something too.…
Looks pretty cool, did you use reference? And I am not sure if it is intentional but you have waviness in your texture near the top of the hammer. As it stands, your metal doesn't read to much like metal to me. It reads more like stone, you might need to have a second look at your spec.
Looks really great! Though I think that the roots going straight trough the stones look a bit weird. I would maybe at least paint some cracks onto that or some fake shadows. Should make it a bit clearer to read for the viewer. =) Other than that really awesome piece of work! Love the bird :D
Over all good work. I think the ruins need to be built of smaller stone pieces though. and there should be a focal piece to the composition right now every thing is about the same detail you need something to pull the viewer in. You also need a bit more value break up of the composition. Keep working it!
Hey So just wanted to show the sidewalk stone texture. i sculpted it in zbrush to get the four original blocks then got my normal and AO in Zbrush. Went over to Photoshop to do the rest of the work. feel free to crit on anything you see art, presentation anything. or if you have any questions please ask
Okay, it might just be me, but I could swear this thing was full of red trees and had a big stone with blue in the middle. Someone tell me I'm not any more crazy than I already am. I feel the gap with the tree could use some help, it feels so empty. Just a backdrop.
Hey mate, thanks so much for the kind words :) I think the base will be stone or wood. Ill use the same materials that I use for the cannon I think just so it fits together. Going to do some colour and materials studies over my concept and see what works best. Stayed tuned :)
