still looks a lot like the standard mudbox base mesh.. but well, as someone said it looks more like you are going for an orc from lort of the rings.. i would say that you go down a few subdivisions and concentrate on the basic forms without that uber smoothness to it...
kuuz.. Come play Lord of the Rings Online and fuck getting a job. AMIRITE??!?!! 10externalhdds :( i will buy you a new one full of the content that's on your current one. seeing it is that it got borked betwixt me using it and u receiving it some strange way. BARUK KHAZAD!
Painted it, real quick-like. I have some kind of wierd interest in ancient military history. 'Vercongendrix' is too long and everybody thinks 'Hannibal' is someone who eats people. 'Xerxes' (a Persian Emperor) has a nice ring and combines naturally with 'Zerg' from Starcraft.
When you get to the final low poly you're free to start terminating loops no need to carry they all the way around the leg creating more tris, like MoP said you could collaspe just about every other ring and get the same result.
Check your reference, there some some things that are off. Make sure you're keeping it up while you work, you've got some really good angles to work off of. Number of windows, the angle of the front bumper area, how the segments are connecting, the angle of the outter ring on the wheel is deeper.
nice, the whole thing looks much better now. wood may be a little too orange. one random thing i noticed: if you look at the hoop/ring that goes around wood and barrel close to the muzzle, you can see that wood around the metal is darkened and less specular. on the photo, that is.
Change the category to "Ribbon - Modeling" to find all the graphite modeling tools like swift loop, dot ring ect... Change the category to "Modeling: Graphite Tools" To get access to the main toggle and the horiz/vert orientation toggle. Yea someone really dropped the ball when thinking that one out...
@Chus_Orgaz: I think you could actually save quite a lot of polygons on that shield. Particularly the horizontal ones on the wood and that one edge ring, running around the whole protruding metal part. Artistically speaking I really like your painted wood, although it gets pretty close to bark.
zremesher is infamous for it's spirals, with or without guides. hope this will get fixed some day until then DON'T USE THE FUCKIN THING i can't count the times we worked with other peoples meshes, selected 1 edge, hit ring or loop in max and have THE WHOLE DAMN OBJECT selected grmpf!
Christchurch NZ has been having almost continuous quakes (some pretty major) since the really big one last year, but it's not been seen as newsworthy until now (Christmas/New Year). Lets see how many quakes on the 'ring of fire' are attributed to the world ending this year. lol
