The meshes generally look great for baking. You won't want to use them as game geometry but the smoothing is set up perfectly and the edges are great most of the time. The strips that form the connections between meshes are often NOT perfectly stitched to the geo around them which means once you freeze the mesh you…
@itsover3 I see what you're talking about. Should be an easy fix. @imb3nt Yeah I was worried about the diamond shapes being really noisy around some of the objects. I'll have to take another look at that and see what I can come up with. Once this beast is done I'm thinking I might have to make a metal amp too.…
No problem! I thought that might be the reason, so here's a quick explanation what that changed: stuff gets detached and re-welded together in the process of export to import for UE3, and UE3 seems to use weld thresholds and smoothing groups to figure out what to weld back together. So if you took a finished low-poly model…
http://wh40k.lexicanum.de/wiki/Datei:Laserriflem40.JPG#.Uwki6YXNthE It really dont look like a scope. Maybe the Laser Pointer like mentioned. My feedback: The imperial eagle is an ornament. Make it bigger and with real geometry and it works wonder. Make a prayer on the weapon in imperial gothic. The muzzle is a bit to…
1) On tiny or dense meshes, getting the vert can be a pain sometimes. How big is this model? When picking the second vert, try clicking and dragging along an adjacent edge, then moving in to the vert you wanted to hit. This will let you know for sure if you have a geo problem. 2) Haven't run into that, sorry. Might be a…
Hi CrackRock, thanks for the reply. So I've modelled the lowpoly and baked out the normal map and AO. Having a few shading problems on the railings - think this is down to smoothing groups as have tried to keep them on a single smoothing group and changed the angles away from 90deg to decrease splits, however seeing as the…
hi! why am i so lonely xD so, this is my second try at a walk, or what they call a vanilla walk (sounds cool). i'm not yet sure if i have fixed the popping knee issue totally or not. unfortunately there's no knee snap function available in this rig, fixing the knee issue is tough. or maybe im too much of a noob. anyway,…
Hey JackyBoy, Nice progress, it's good to be aware of the edge flow and spacing. Make sure the car is smooth. Create a cube map in 3ds max to help see where any spots may not be smooth. A shell modifier can be used to add thickness and to add seams you can chamfer the edges and extrude in. Hopefully, I mentioned something…
Great stuff, work on those textures and it will turn out great. Noticed a thing when i flipped through the pages, your normal maps have a lot of gradients on them. This often looks a little wierd when applied into a 3D engine and often result in darker areas and incorrect shading. Often if the object shades wrong without…
Hey pior, do you have a solution for displaying low resolution meshes as smooth and un-faceted in enzo? The last trial I used in CS I couldn't figure out how to do that before it timed out, and the latest one doesn't work in for me in CS3 and has since expired. I'd be willing to spend the money on it assuming I could get a…
