We use 3dsmax as our level/content editor. While perhaps not optimal, it works. If you're looking for a pre-packaged solution, either Oxy's engine or something like ModNations Racer have editors you can use with preset chunks.
It has been a while since I last baked ambient occlusion maps in 3dsmax, but I used to set my materials to double-sided to avoid issues like this. Not sure if this will create other problems, but it will increase rendering time a fair bit.
Careful with 3dsmax 2014, its FBX exporter is broken. You have to export from a different version of max if you use FBX and mirrored normals. This also might be a viewport problem. Trying viewing the model and normal map in another viewer.
It sounds like the ripple space warp would probably do what you need? http://docs.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/15/ENU/3ds-Max-Help/index.html?url=files/GUID-D76CC0CD-0835-475F-825D-B09EE34159AD.htm,topicNumber=d30e179724
I think you should start here: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/3ds-max/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2016/ENU/3DSMax/files/GUID-1244162D-A063-486C-BD9B-168466F6488B-htm.html And follow the links further.
Paid for my own full 3dsmax commercial license fairly recently. Next day caught wind of them getting rid of upgrade pricing completely. Now going to subscription model. Never paying for another Autodesk license ever again.
The "Loop Tools" dialog has a Space command. Check out this page for a description. http://docs.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/15/ENU/3ds-Max-Help/index.html?url=files/GUID-C1D508AB-A3E5-4965-AAE3-4FA5EC48CA75.htm,topicNumber=d30e125533
yeah TexTools can even send it to RoadKill which is free - but you still need to mark and cut your UV seams. Roadkill is just a better relaxer as 3dsmax is, the basics are the same. [ame] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2q1fF5TuYo[/ame]
I use my imagination i work with 3dsmax with all my models without a problem now i wont learn more with zbrush but mouth not working :)if there is BASIC tutorial i watch other tutorials but i dont get it much
Details on 3DSmax export - I find it strange that a forum spawned from Amazon looks so dull, especially when you have Unity and Unreal as a foundation that they could try and remediate, maybe it will get better in time? https://gamedev.amazon.com/forums/
