Haha - love the trimmed down UI's! Great stuff. The one that always gets me is CTRL+I - it seems to work when it feels like it, almost at random. Still, most things can still be got through the menus. Another program I use all the time, probably more than max, is Imageline's FLStudio - they recently introduced a new…
You need to ungroup the objects, select one and under EditPoly turn on attach and select the other two pieces. This will combine all the pieces into one object and allow you to weld. Don't think of group as combine. Think of a group as a quick way to select a bunch of objects and move them around, it doesn't really join…
Wow..thanks for all the great advice and good wishes.. So far so good, with weekly visits to the Doctors office Jess is starting to feel better, and eat and drink a bit more.. Perhaps in a few weeks she might be able to ditch the I.V. Oh, and my little collection of sonagram pictures are always a kick to look at.. TINS: As…
the problem is not the model - its the material. it will not automatically refract light - you need to tell it how to fake the effect there'll be a wide variety of ways to set it up documented on the internet (all of which will make me cross )
I refer you to my earlier point. If performance were really that important people wouldn't be using maya, mari, solidworks etc.. because they all run like shit. You can resolve almost all performance issues by throwing money and hardware at the problem - it's not unusual to have £10-15k workstations under every desk with…
I did go down that route @monster, have a nice little script that hooks it all up. Aaaand it's still not really an effective solution. (modifiers above the morpher were causing issues this time) But I did finally find something that's working nicely. Point Cache modifiers were, like renders and fluid sims, only using the…
Right, gotcha. I was thinking that and though it was just easier/cleaner to keep everything in nice chunks in PS to make all the little pieces. Instead of messing around on that wall I just redid the top of the wall piece and made the ceiling piece go all the way across in another square piece. I think now I'm figuring out…
Thanks a lot everyone. Warren did a fantastic job meshing this all together, as did Maury with the textures. It's been an amazing experience being here and being able to learn from these guys. @Sean VanGoder - There was no concept for the interior. Although in the earlier stages Pete, a level designer and I figured out…
Thanks, I will continue with this a bit more the upcoming 3 weeks before calling this exercise done. I'm working on a new environment for a school course at the moment and will therefore not be able to edit this one as much as I'd like. But nevertheless I will absolutely try and make it better as a portfolio piece when…
hello PixelPatron Thanks for your time, youve really nailed down what i have to do next time. The reference homework was something i havent done very well and thats why this scene kinda sucks... Well i gotta do my homework and i will first improve my modeling skills so i can create the tools for example. Im not able to…
