Hello, I've been blocking this project out for some time now, and I wanted to share my progress on it. Hermit is by Shen YH on Artstation. Here is the original concept: And here's my progress so far. I may change the flow of his cloak so its not so close to his legs. Any comments or critiques are appreciated!
Nvidia 560 GTX The maps work fine in game, so I don't think it's a mask problem. It even works in one instance in Maya, that's what makes it extra weird. The shader works fine for my bracers but produces these weird shadowed areas for my cloak and shoulders. I'll post another pic tonight.
Still refining/remeshing elements, but she's finally out of blocking stage. Getting those folds in. Deciding on tertiary shapes to bring in / let go of (Shirt relief? Battle damage?). Planning another pass on her cloak and some more treatments on her big belt now that I have a base to work with.
Small update: Cleaned some lines, unbroke her wrist, shuffled around the cape. Somewhere along the way I lost the flow of the arm, so I'll try to push that again. Next up will probably be adding her face/hair blockout and redrawing the hand hidden behind her leg/cloak.
Loving all the assets, some very enjoyable high polys. I agree with pretty much all of Add3r's suggestions. It would be a shame to waste perfectly good assets by having them cloaked in fog. This is just a quick levels adjustment to help think about your lighting and contrast, obviously don't take it too literally.
I had the same thing with Jzargo, I think I fast travelled and he snapped out of it though. I was like 'wtf lydia never cowered in fear for no reason! pathetic!' but I kept him on anyway, he's a good sport. Gave him back all his stupid flame cloak scrolls though
@mrgesy I have tried to do an imperfection pass to add some damage to the boots and cloak as suggested, as well as just improving the readability of some of the scratches that I previously added to the armor. I think it is looking a lot better now, What do you think dude? :) Thanks again for the feedback and keep it coming…
Looking nice and chunky. Wondering if his foot armors are too big? From the front they're looking a bit oversized. I'm with D_Wall on the angular cloak at the shoulders, but I'm wondering if the tassets and leg armor should be left a bit chunkier. Things are looking a bit slim and stiff in the paintover. Looking great…
You are right, I think a Rubick courier would be very successful, but If you ask me the most recognizable part of Rubick is not his cape, but his twitching movements. I can't see how you are going to pull those off with a slug. But a little green animal carrying a Rubick-cloak is a good idea, keep working at it!
so you have to walk around with a tv on your head for folks to see it.. or they'd have to look at a monitor to see the portfolio over your head. It's like the invisibility cloak tech, it's nice but there's the whole thirdwall thing you have to overcome. It's all in video, it's not actually 'there' in front of you it's on a…
