I dig your work. But like Jason said, a lot of your characters look consistent in style which isn't necessarily a bad thing. But in this case, it doesn't represent a wow-like character. Right now, everything except the shoulder-armor don't look wowish. This is mainly due to the fact that similar items do not exist in wow.
It won't be modable... at least not initially - I've heard no plans either way on this so I could very well be wrong. It's enough for us to launch it for free and hope people want to purchase items and such in-game. If they don't, well then... I prefer not to think of what that means. =] Jeremy: It's free to play. Feel…
@Howl: Thanks for the feedback! I fixed the panels already. I will do the menu items tomorrow. @nick2730: Thanks for your feedback! Does anyone have any feedback on my work? I'm really wondering if it is diverse enough. Maybe you guys have tips of a project I could add to improve my portfolio?
holy crap! way to go people! it's really hard to believe that this is a "mini" competition and almost detracts from the results with such a silly title. these are some hot ticket items right here! big congrats to those 2d champs of the sharptooth as well! kory, kactuz, and suburb, you guys really brought the thunder and it…
The latest item I have been working on over the last couple of weeks has been an L129A1 "Sharpshooter" Rifle, Complete with Folding Grip & Trijicon ACOG 6X48 TA648-308. Modeled in 3DS Max, Textured in Substance Painter. Textures are still somewhat WIP, but I think I'm getting there, Any pointers welcome as usual!
The point @JacqueChoi was making is that you'd need pieces of work like that currently on your portfolio to attract a job. Not necessarily those specific items, but just projects to that quality. If you mean a fulltime job outside of the industry: you wont have time. If you mean in the industry: you wont be getting a job…
Hey guys. Finally found some time to get started on this dude. Some great looking stuff already posted. I've not got much done just blocked out his body and a few of his clothing items (hair is just a placeholder for now, but I just thought I'd share todays progress. Cheers!
If I had to give any advice on texturing it would be to look at reference a lot. Look at different items that are similar to what you are texturing and see how it get's used, where all the wear and tear is. Oniram posted a really great tutorial link on generating materials for texturing on the first page. I would check…
You might want to take a look at your font selection. At the least, your name should be larger than the menu items. Your about section really should have an online version of your resume rather than just a download link. Your e-mail address at the bottom of the page should be a proper mailto: link.
I appreciate the creature designs. The variance from serious/menacing to playful shows a strong range within that segment. What I feel like is immediately missing is some sense of character related prop work. You have some on Skeech, but I'd like more. Items that prove your hard surface design, etc.
