because the environent color is set to white (press the [8] key for setting it back to black) this white color often used in AO renderings, maybe you used some script or so that did not set it back. -

maya python - read from text file, iterate through lines per keyframe and display to screen
Here's a script that will read through a text file, use line breaks as a delimiter, and show each line associated with timeline frame, starting from 0. Useful for synching animations with dialog or notes, which is really hard to do if your text is in a separate app. It's crazy that maya doesn't seem to have any native way… -

It would be a pretty big material. you would need to check the 8 neighbour cells and blend them. Are you sure you cant have this in a static way, like made in substance, and then exported as a texture? -
