The high poly was create inside 3sd max 2012 using a plane imported from Zbrush (getting the correct size) and then I used soft selection to pull it forward and backwards to make sure it would tile perfectly, imported back to Zbrush to align the sculpted rocks and then exported for baking in Xnormal. -

I believe I am finally ready to paint. Note that I do have soft edges around the walls/ceiling, but it probably won't be noticeable after some good lighting/AO in the scene. I won't worry about it much in the future unless I know it will be seen. Edit: . -

I'd remove a few details as well, it's kind of blurring the overall shape. And I'd insert the bolts with a subtool insert rather than an alpha. Or at least, I'd make sure the alpha doesnt push the surrounding surface inside. It's making your surface soft plastic like rather than metal. -

Love it. Interesting shapes and contrast in hard/soft forms. I'd say the texture-rez on the green part looks a bit blurry in the renders but that could be addressed in adding some more contrast in the specular. It'd be nice to get a more translucent effect where the skin is being stretched. Awesome job! -

@Computron Will fix that up tomorrow, still feel really lost/terrible in getting the correct hardness/softness on the edges. And I don't know if I am asking to much, but what parts are the biggest offenders in your opinion in terms of consistency? @BradMyers Thanks man, and I'll have a look at yours ^^ -

For this type of wear, get a big soft brush, and set the flow to pen pressure, and disable size. Just lightly paint on your mask, and build up the wear. By default, most of the brushes are set to size on pressure, and nothing for flow, which makes painting rubbing/polish type wear painful. -

I see what you guys are saying with the specular map and it's true i could tweak it for more contrast. But i didn't want to go for full realism with bright specular highlights and deep normal map. I wanted it to have the more soft, handpainted look of the original resin model. -

I couldn't imagine a company like Ubi Soft letting something that irresponsable happen. But then again, they are just there publishers right? Crytek is the one that would take most of the heat...Not sure how it works, but it just strikes me as odd to compromise a big game like farcry over a piece of software. -

the ears look small and slightly low down, the pupils are to soft, make them have a harder edge to help define them and also consider softening the edge of the iris (it looks to hard). Its a good looking texture but the eyes really let down all that hard work. Good Stuff -

Oh, all screen grabs, huh? Well if you aren't using the Mathis shader, you should. The standard max material will always be a bit blurry in the viewport. And if you are using the Mathis shader, then paint with a hard brush in photoshop, no soft brushes in between armor parts, to get rid of blurriness.
