Cody, yeah, that's what I was going but then I got greedy and wanted to see if I could use that 4th channel. RyanB, that's really interesting. I'm guessing it's just a way to try to counter act the compression artifacts? I wish I had a better example ready, but this will do: I have all my maps with out alpha: set is…
@metalliandy About he date, I see..I just kinda shock at first that I thought the license was a subscription based model with a due date. And the thickness maps yeah it kinda make sense if you put it that way, thanks! I tried to experiment more with the workflow for Knald but now I found some strange result. What…
Well I'm still going to high school so learning.. But after all I'm interested in Computer Science but that's begining for me. Know basics of C++ and some 3ds max for now. My plans about university were studying programming but now I wanted to create my own models so later in future I can try making a simple, easy game in…
Honestly man, depends on how far you are willing to go. There are a lot of concept artists, myself included, who for whatever reason, couldn't go to art center and regret not having that experience. In my case I did a year at FZD which was hell enough, but the worst was scrapping by for 2 years till I finally got a studio…
Hey OP, You can improve a lot. For example it still seems you are really weak on modelling. Can you maybe start doing these. It starts simple, but it is really good practice. http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=129938 http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=132146…

Don't forget that LucasArts also hasn't produced any 'critically'…
Nope. It's quite a story though! 1. User posts that he is considering buying an X100 from his local shop or a GH2 2. I PM him asking which shop has them in stock. 3. He answers the store's name in New Zealand (Paul's Camera) 4. I email Paul's, asking if they have any unclaimed ones. 5. They tell me they have 10 coming in,…
Congrats ! Lead already :o It really depends of your type of contract and status. Also taxes and stuff vary a lot from country to country + cost of life. I don't know which percentage of taxes an american citizen has to pay, but that would be interesting to know. Don't want to "spit in the soup" :p , but french companies…
HELLO WORLD!!! I'm currently working on the main antagonist. What I am about to show you is definitely WIP but feedback is always appreciated. These models aren't very detailed as they will be retopologised before sculpting all the finer detail. So first, I'll show off the clothing concepts I did. They're quick and dirty,…
You could try Blender as a secondary tool. It has a few extra options beyond what MAx offers. For example it could turn top of a cylinder back to perfect shape with selecting top vertexes and hit "space" in loop tools. MAx doesn't consider them a loop for some uncertain reason with a same named tool. Unfortunately in both…
