If it was in 3dsmax I would you down the stack and attach the phantom gizmo to the mesh. If there are no polys relating to the gizmo, I presume it would just disappear. Sounds as though you are using maya though, so not sure if this would work
thanks for the reply guys, I bake using 3dsmax "bake to texture" and load up in both max and unity with proper setups, they all have seams. using max 2015 @Revel : shouldn't the bake correcting the direction/ orientation when baking?
render was done is 3dsmax with DHRI Map and 3 lights. one hot, one cold and a white light ontop. If you google Adeptus Mechanicus dune crawler you can find loads of references. but I'll post one now in the edit.
You can use Rotational Joints to limit the axis of rotation for an HI Ik Solver. It's the IK tab of the Hierarchy Panel. http://docs.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/15/ENU/3ds-Max-Help/files/GUID-74BF337B-CABA-4693-87D4-41D3D9D85FBD.htm
Not for full-character mocap, but I've used this utility in Max to capture mouse movements, to simulate a hand-held camera. Worked really well. http://help.autodesk.com/view/3DSMAX/2015/ENU/?guid=GUID-B33631D4-AB68-46A1-AE19-6E04F913002C
Thanks! Actually I'm doing fine in mt2 I always reach something good enough with some tweaking on the maps/lights and render setup, I don't really find myself confortable rendering directly in maya or 3dsMax though XD
Are your UVs disconnected at every face? Load up the OBJ in max and double check that your UVs are welded together as you originally intended (it seems very common for this to happen between 3dsmax and zbrush unless you export a certain way)
So here goes round 2. I re-baked all the normals inside 3dsmax and they turned out great! Im also going to re-texture the entire case is PS and Substance painter. I added more geometry too.
From what im reading have you tried to bakejump from an other platform ? not that it's unthinkable but if padding is enable and creates problem try from 3dsmax or maya instead of xnormal and see if there's some improvement. At least that's what i would do.
as soon as: 3dsmax maya zbrush photoshop ableton live UDK gaming (to a lesser extent) become supported fully on Linux, i'll be leaving windows behind forever. that said, it's a voluntary update, and i'm sure the pirate community couldn't care less.
