but if you have 2021, you should be able to also get 2019 and test what they are running to? but yeah my assumption is, they dont have a modifer and somehow kill your locked normals.
It's also on the BF 2042 map called Discarded. So, it's not only in the remastered map from 2010, but also in the main new 2021 maps for BF 2042. Maybe someone here made this?
2 possibilities: Set Color Profile of texture file to RAW (bump and normal maps need to be set to RAW as of maya 2016 or 2017) Set the bump node to Tangent Space

Or Max > Containers. 2010 and 2011 allow you to open the containers and edit the files locally without having to go back to the original file. Or what about using render presets?
Some wear and tear on the slide, grip and frame.. Nevermind the wonky normals.. somehow the viewport shader in max 2014 screws them up. they look nice in marmoset and max 2010

onionhead - Besides bug fixes don't expect much new with Mudbox 2018 compared with 2017. You can do UDIM with Mudbox, it's the numbering scheme that is different then say Mari.
Kind of love creeping this thread. It's wonderful to see the way different workflows and styles progress. And I think it's a helpful learning aid too. Maybe I'll attempt to jump in at some point before 2014 is over.
