Images are best. A video helps if you want to show the asset in action in a shipped game, if it shows off what you did better than an image can. The character needs work IMO. Eyes are too white. Spec map should be in color. Cloth texture looks like stone.
Wow, I am brand new to 3D modelling, but to see how the stone wall just moves to the shape you pull is amazing, didn't know you could do that, though I have no idea about blender, now just wondering how hard this would be to do in zbrush.
characters lookin nice!! the thing that looks off to me is the cylinder part under the handle, the dents in it look... awkward to me, i think cuz of the diagonal flow of it feel like cracks on stone is usually on the edges http://cghub.com/images/view/383426/ but cant wait to see it finished!! =D
Zbrushes surface noise can produce some great effects as well. The various options used in conjunction with masks and the morph target can yield great results. There is a video on their site which goes over someone doing a stone. Some of the principles may apply. http://www.pixologic.com/zclassroom/homeroom/
using variety of modeling tools and techniques to create damage effects using a building. I need help Removing large chunks of the buildings in Maya. Breaking concrete, stone pieces and Damaging Buildings. Can any one help? I'm looking for a tutorial if some one can email me.
Why are you using the Witcher as reference? You're interpreting what another artist has interpreted, and there will be subtleties lost in translation. Some real ref here: http://pinterest.com/donnacrazylady/boulders-rocks-cliffs-caves-natural-bridges/…
I think the main problem is that the blade looks like it's made out of stone. Working on the reflection and specular should help making it looks more like metal (dark diffuse but bright specular). Same for the golden parts, the diffuse should be dark brown and the specular should be light yellow/gold.
automatic/procedural/dynamic low poly generation on the fly using material volumes to accuratly simulate material degradation, this is also how you would sculpt, want a stone statue thats been weathered, just apply a granite material volume and get your hard rain brush out
This looks really nice, the biggest suggestion i could give would be to maybe seperate the colors/values on your different elements more. The roof, walls, stone and wood all feel like the same color and are close in value, it would really help to add some contrast to them as a whole.
Hah, pretty cool! The pose is a little off-balance (he looks almost like he's gonna fall over backwards) and I'm not really a fan of the face/mask design, but the rest is neat. That's one hell of a sharp knife though... I don't know many that cut through stone
