Hey all, just thought I'd post up some work I've been doing over the last week or so in my spare time. I think I may end up making some merchant goods to put on it next. There are some WIPs for this in my digital sketchbook - http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1437487#post1437487 Thanks for looking :)
Hi friends, Well this is my first time posting up here on PolyCount. My name is Kala and I'm a concept artist/digital painter. I've heard nothing but good things about you all :P Just gonna post one of my speed paintings I'm going to take in and refine. So here it goes! C&C much appreciated. <3
Just try both ways. Then you'll know. both these guys are professionals, so if you learn each ones methods you'll be better off. the best hting about digital art is you can try almost anything non-destructively. No other medium you can do that in. So take advantage of that fact.
There are some videos by Greg Brown for the Modo steam edition that I would consider a good crash course into using modo... http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=202604023 Digital Tutors also has a some good stuff for getting into it right away. http://www.digitaltutors.com/11/training.php?tid=7&cid=87
This and Origin (thanks for blocking my credit cards, Digital River) and their "creative" DRM measures. Or all DLC costs 4 bioware points but you can only buy the points in 5-packs (haha. very funny). The non game dev folks are pretty good at EA for spoiling otherwise great products for me :/
Unless they changed something, its the same thing as the yiynova. Same UC-logic digitizer, same issues, same source.... just rebranded under another name. I dont think its good competition for Wacom, the quality difference is just too vast. I would continue to stick with Wacom for the time being.
So I don't think this is the best time to be learning Softimage... Autodesk is killing it and is going to stop support soon. With that said Digital Tutors has a bunch of tutorials for Softimage that might be worth looking into. If you want a replacement program to look into Modo and Blender both have texturing features…
i usually go to amazon us for digital downloads. change your address to some us address and you're all set. works very well. steam is more tricky as you need a vpn, or you know someone else who can buy games for you. for older titles GoG is a good alternative.
@allebasi, just ignore them. Those are super tiny rotation offsets, that come from the iteration of the ik solver. They wouldnt be displayed on my machine, where i see only threee digits after the point. You will probably never touch this joint during animation, just let the IK do its job :)
Thanks a lot for the tips, guys. It really helps to know that i can transfer knowledge. I'll follow the Digital Tutors tutorials for both programs. Based on your experience, do you guys recommend this: [ame] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzLnkpBQUfA[/ame] Even though it's for Blender? Does it contain good practices?
