osx is just a 64bit os, xp and vista can use huge amounts of ram if you choose to go with their 64bit versions, most people just don't realise they have a choice.
@scotthomer - exactly as I thought. Amount of geo you have on the edges of the plaster is really good, as it is quite hard to tell what you have made there, hence why I asked. :)
I think the amount of details, the uniformity of saturation/contrast and the model shape really attack the eye. I don't know where to start to decode your model. But really good technique !
Not a huge amount of reason to trust any speculation at this point when the cards are releasing in a few weeks. We'll have proper benchmarks soon, plus AMD will be announcing their new cards shortly.
I think my rule of thumb here is if you actually notice it in game, then it's a go. But I've seen models with such a tiny amount of detail that the actual result in-game is barely even noticeable.
Epic amount of thanks man, this is driving me crazy, really grateful for you taking a look :) http://www.mediafire.com/?mymmnzk1mgj <--- download there. That's the Max scene with the LP and unwrap only, thanks man :)
although i like the concept i think u should reduce ur choice, otherwise it will become a huge amount of work for one person, try maybe to focus on one thing
Yup ! Both of these would make an excellent challenge! Plenty of different techniques used, large amount of atmosphere going on,lots of different approaches possible, good lighting neede etc etc
They've stated a pricing that "everyone" can afford. Whatever that means, it sounds like it's no humongous amount of money. Youmight start by buying a piece of clay though. No undo, but no need to subdivide either.
great job, i think there is a fantastic amount of detail for such specs .. i think the folds on the pants are a little too sharp for my tastes .. but i very much like the piece overall !
