What a nice post this is! Very interesting and instructive. Jerry your progress is awesome and I love the wireframe. I would like to pinch in the discussion with my model. I dont want too much attention on this since its not my post, but just a quick tip of what I should do with it would be nice! So, I have this car (Fiat…
I disagree with this as I know of someone who's literally got a career going because of the cardboard box he did. I'm glad you got the lighthouse on the frontpage as it is definitely your best piece so far, i'd just ditch everything else that you did in the past like the matrix, dino stuff. Stick with environments and…
Very nice progress, I like how you refined the design of the character! The texture looks currently like a "base" because when I compare your references with your model I'm missing colour variations and depth made by shadows and highlights. Also a top down gradient would lead the focus to the upper part of the body where…
I didn't use any basemesh for the head. I started out in Zbrush with Dino-mesh just pushing and pulling. To make the cutouts in the jaw I inserted a squished cylinder with the subtraction boolean. That was the easy part. Getting in there and sculpting was another story. I made rough Polygroup selection sets to hide parts…
oh god the stupid overly colorful deisngs of all the alien stuff. bright stripey dinos vs the most generic mechs ive ever seen, i love how they send him to "blend in" wearing military camos with a fucking shotgun......? the faces just look so furry/dumb and like Pior said, overly animated with huge gestures and flapping…
The Mhz rating on your ram is like the Mhz/Ghz rating on you're CPU. Faster is faster. Your Mobo supports several different speeds, and it looks like it tops out at 1200Mhz. Like EQ said, if you put slower ram in with faster ram, it all runs at the lower speed. So if you're running 500Mhz ram now and plunk down the extra…
I always get excited to see dinosaurs on polycount. please try not to start sculpting at the highest subdiv level. it's much easier to control shapes, and form when sculpting at a lower resolution. colors look pretty cool. http://blog.press.princeton.edu/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/stegosaurus_stenops.jpg it actually looks…
Awesome Nick! I like the layout, the content is great too. It works in firefox and IE for me. In IE 64bit when I'm browsing the images, the frame collapses and expands as the image loads and the outline around the buttons is blue and purple, kind of distracting. In IE 32bit or any other browser its fine. I really like the…
