Its not so much about polycount that hes talking about, its just that the items in-game are incredibly small so it will be lost visually even if its modelled well. Its even worse for people not playing on high settings, so thats why people usually stick for very large easily readable shapes n such
At first I was like yaaaaay! then I heard this stuff about the game needing to be uk in cultural content? thats a really limiting factor. haha maybe we will have devs trying to cash in making games like scifi rts based on a steampunk british empire? or a fantasy hack n slash mmo based on celtic lore?
Hi !! thank you again for your kind words :D Skodone explained the process pretty well :) I've done a tutorial in the vertex magazine n°2 that you can find here : http://artbypapercut.com/ And I'm planning to do a gumroad about my process but I have to find the time to do it properly xD

Just a heads up about the Surface Pro 3. Just saw this. Adobe Photoshop CC 14.2.1 x64 - runs (requires N-Trig Wintab driver) Pixologic Sculptris - no pressure ZBrush 4R6 - no pressure From http://surfaceproartist.com/blog/2014/5/29/surface-pro-3-what-runs-what-doesnt
Nice breakdowns! Really like the texture. What maps do you use as a base for the diffuse? From the gif I can tell that you get the usual AO over the base color and then maybe a cavity map, but what about the next one? Is it a bent normal, PRT-P/N or a normal map channel? Cheers!

I think I see what you're saying. From what I can tell a lot of my photo reference is from the N, but the blueprint I used was the F. I can see a few differences, But aside from the cockpit, there wasn't enough noticeable variation in the models to give me a whole lot of trouble.
whatever way works for you I guess. I just blob colour around and hope it works. That is where my lack of understanding when it comes to painting really shows up. I should really focus on value (black n white) first because if you get that right then its all downhill from there.
