guys, how about a systemshock 2 coop session? :) one psi-ops, one marine, one engineer, and the fourth abundant guy who will be abundant :) [ame] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9Eb6-_gcoc[/ame]
Here I made a quick paintover, it's real rough but I think you can get the message. You really need a subtle fog to add a sense of depth and atmosphere too. Hope it helps Download psd
:poly121:Yes, in some projects we have a 100+ smart object in our albedo .PSD, and 4k texture are really slows down work process. And even top i7 with 16gb and SSD can't handle it smoothly.
It will indeed still be happening, however it will probably be up in a few hours as Alex will most likely be deep in a cat-nap right now. It's like 1pm here in the UK, but it's still around 4 in the morning back in PST regions :)
The winner of the second video goes to: dudealan2001 There is still one more copy available, so as long as you comment in this post before midnight PST tonight you will still have a chance to get your hands on one.
This months CGWorld (Japan) has information about how they do their environment and characters. If you want it scanned in, I can. Textures are hand panted, and polycount is PS3/360. They go over some details about workflow.
for issue A, add a couple more horizontal edgeloops and see if that fixes it. for C, as Bardler mentions you should bake in 16 bit .tiff format, then downsample in photoshop (or just resave as .psd if rendering in toolbag, and keep it at 16bit).
I included the big eyes version in the final .psd, but I think I like this one the best: I have admired the SF art for years, and this was a massive challenge for me, but I am pretty happy with the result :)
TGA for games with alpha...unless it calls for something else. PNG for cool transparencies on web and games. JPG for large photos. GIF for thumbnails and simple animations. PSD for previewing game textures in XSI as I paint them.
I think the only time i would ever put everything in separate .psd's is if the file size was getting humongous and causing PS to really crawl. I cant really think of any other reason tbh...
