Nice progress! I have to say I really liked the double stripe at the bottom of the tunic in the original design, it cut off the pattern nicely... Also the red of the stones is a bit too much of a coral imo, a more ruby red on the jewels will work better with the rest of the color scheme.
Also your UVs have a lot of unused space. You could probably rearrange them a bit and end up with 1014x512 maps that look just as good. I think the last one is the weakest, due to material definition (the whole thing looks like metal and stone to me.)
Your picture are a good exemple. When i'm work with Designer, i'm create 3 "details passe", near - mid - and far. Near > a micro detail, like a hole or scratches. Mid > for stone or wood, adding a moss/lichen Far > a huge map to adding a normal/height variation.
Identifiable reasons for existence on every level: Above and beyond pure aesthetics if every stone, tree, parking meter, or pulsating pink obelisk tells(or better suggests) a story of its history and reason for its existence. It gives an environment an infered depth and life beyond that of its artistic creation.
Well, I personally would leave that out, since it instantly looks like you just didn't use any smoothing groups at all: Adjust the smoothing groups, make a proper normal map in ZBrush (with hard edges) and apply that to the stones/rocks. Will look much better ;) Cheers
I tried multiple brick sizes but these seemed to be alright to me. The shadowing is a gap for where the doors will be made later on. Here is an update also tried to start a bit with environment and added new spiky pillar. Im going to change te stone arches on the side to a different style. Update:
thanks and yes i wanted to organize things at the pantry for a night, but i've been a bit distracted lately with kidney stones and shipping the expansion for swg. i also totally forgot about doing it too. i'm cool with whatever. i get in tuesday afternnon and leaving friday night.
I like it so far, but the biggest issue I have is that the bottom stone texture just doesn't seem to 'fit' with the rest of the textures. maybe it's just because I'm seeing it out of an environment, or maybe it's just me, but I thought I would mention it. Otherwise, looks great.
palm trees need another loop in in the fronds atm they are a bit jaggy also cover the base of those rocks in veg or make the blend into it small scree like stones the rock into rock doesnt work well... and finally cover the bases of trees in veg or grass really nice though
one of the biggest reasons why your bricks look so repetative too is that you dont have the corner stones around all the corners...those are really large bricks on the concept and help break things up, as well as add more interest and realism...go and add those.
