There is no comparison, doing a proper highpoly model is always going to be better. When you a proper bake from source geometry, the smoothing in the lowpoly mesh is accounted for. What this means is that the shading of your mesh is replaced with the shading of the highpoly for every pixel. Normal maps aren't just for… -

They seem somewhat better designed. I'm no expert on cooling, but they seem to be blowing air on the GPU (they show the GPU vent as a cold air intake) but surely you'd want to be pulling air out of there? I mounted a fan on the GPU vent on my case pulling air out and it keeps the GPU ice cold instead of cooking the wifi… -

You can't simply replace what an artist can do. Games may at some point be pulling assets from a huge library, but there won't be at any point in the near future, or likely even distant future, something that simply lets your average person pull off pro-quality artwork with little effort - replacing artists or their… -
