Eric: try out dropbox as an alternative image hosting, its really easy and never resizes/recompresses your stuff. I usually do like jpeg 11(ELEVENNNNN) and end up with 600kb images and it handles it just fine, its not like people are on 56k or anything. -

Has anyone ever taken a 365 sketch a day challenge? I'm definitely gonna take it up next year to discipline myself, alot of the time I'm either without a sketchpad or not motivated enough to pickup the pencil and go for it. -

Re: smooth w/o destroying edge sharpness
If you guys are using CS2 i've found that surface blur is probably one of the greatest inprovements to photoshop since 5.5. It does exactly what i believe it is your looking for. It'll keep areas with high contrast as edges and blur the area inbetween. Its totally awesome for bumpmaps.
