I made another torso today. I also decided that I will focus only on one part of the body and after I move to another. The previous body is made by following tutorial. This is with no tutorial, just to find out what I have learned already. Every cretique would be great.
There's a definite trick or 2 to that workflow. Danny Mcgrath has a great tutorial that will get you as close as you can get. This is the promo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdCNht6vjoc . Here is the link to the tutorial - it's the best $4 you'll spend. Helped me. :) https://gumroad.com/musashidan# Good luck! Daf
What engine are you using? If Unity, they have example projects with included animations and state trees you can dissect. This tutorial: http://www.game-artist.net/forums/spotlight-articles/43-tutorial-introduction-normal-mapping.html Also I don't have DX display of standard material. What does it do? @Adam Thanks, it works! It doesn't exactly show up as it's supposed though, I think it's sort of mirrored.
I like using the graphite modeling tools by drawing splines on a cylinder just like Mark said, here's a nice tutorial for that : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvlj18mJnyI&feature=plcp&context=C441b953VDvjVQa1PpcFMZ-76zdrNbk2XoS0QXgWuKuDgDIjWMPfU%3D&noredirect=1 (I strongly recommend watching all of his tutorial ^^)
I know it's a little dated, and I'm not sure what the users here think of it (I just signed up, hello everybody) but the Joan of Arc tutorial will take you through some good steps in developing the body. http://www.3dtotal.com/ffa/tutorials/max/joanofarc/body3.php
