oh, Im not just thinking about an image browser. I mean it could be used for other things.. video and audio among other things. text files could also probably use it. but yeah.. basically I want a windows explorer but with tags and descriptions for certain folders (so I can control what things show up in tag searches). -

Wow, these characters are amazing, I feel like I'm looking at Blur characters, but in real time. I love how this engine can be used for rendering high quality stills, who needs software rendering. in max you just export obj as .ase each object. In maya there is a plugin you can install thats in the unreal folder somewhere so it is very compatible with max and maya. Thing is if you have alot of smoothing group udk gives error so I just use 1 smoothing group and its good. I use max though. -

also learning mayas workflow will help you improve maxes if/when you return. you wont need to re-map your hotkeys on your first day, just take your preferences folder (here abouts-Documents\maya\8.5\prefs) to work on a stick, copy them onto the machine there and you'll have all your hotkeys and custom buttons -

Ok kinda fixed... It looks like the problem is where the file is located. I can load images which are anywhere within 'My Documents' but nothing which is in a folder outside of My Documents. For example, an image in 'My Documents/3D/Scene1/Reflplane.jpg' would load fine, whereas 'C:/3D/Scene1/Refplane.jpg' wouldn't work.… -

Oh yeah, people had numerous issues with Norton and Max, back in v5 and v6 I think. I didn't keep up on it, don't use Norton here. Also check out what 3rdparty plugins/scripts are installed. These can cause memory-mgmt and interoperability problems. Create a new default install in another folder, see if crashes still occur. -
