It really depends on the studio you work for. Most have the environment artist do both texturing and modeling but there are studios that just an environment artist who models and a texture artist who textures that shit. Here at Naughty Dog thats what we do. Environment artist model everything and assembles the scene and…
re collision, good question because it's an even better answer that everyone should know about. It most likely is an issue to look out for in other game engines too. I was bringing in height maps and adjusting their vertical scale in a little free app called HMCS-V200 from the lilchips website. It's really great because it…
Your work is very solid, however I think there are 2 significant shortcomings in your portfolio. The first is that you are only showing a single type and style of asset. The overall impression given by your portfolio is that you only do hard edged metal objects with peeling paint. While you see that stuff a lot in games,…
So after being completely mesmerized by Elden Ring I went back to where it started all, Dark Souls 1, and made a remake of Quelaag the chaos witch. Hope you like it! You can check out my Artstation post here: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/qQKrPD

You'd use shortcuts but this way with global search input, it's more descriptive (add invert selection and convert edge selection to poly selection after dot loop + ring). Starting with evenly subdivided geometry:
@vempdance : It looks like you are seeing the details, such as the ring around the arm. Watch out for the volume of the arms and legs too. Nice to see a new character challenge. I'm going for a bust of the male character.
wow thank you guys, i'm gonna simplify it. im just unsure if it will deform properly if i use too many tris in areas where the concentric rings are supposed to be, such as the joints, limbs, and neck
Amazing cloth work, all the little details are great (tape, glove, ring, belt, pushed up sleave, cigar). I'd love to know your workflow on the wrinkles. and such a nice soft face :P.
