cool notes, didn't know about automerge. yes it's possible to delete, but you have to do it one at a time as far as i know. just hit "n" to bring up your transform window in edit mode, scroll down a bit and under "transform orientations" you can create or delete them
It's not really DARK green though, I can clearly tell apart the background and the darker parts even when darkening my monitor quite a bit, besides the background isn't even black (there's a vignette effect on the borders but that's it). Here's with the BG lightened up a bit just in case. better worse y/n?
looks really nice! my only crit is the colors, since you worked in black n white you are kind of loosing the color in the shadows. your midtones are good, but your highlights are a bit white and unsaturated, the same goes for the shadows. made a quick paintover. I actually reduced the contrast, but increased the saturation.
Yup, he is very wrong. Watched a few comparison videos and the difference is incredible. His argument is "how many times are you going to be starting up your computer," but for me it's more about how many times a day I re-open photoshop and maya, not to mention marmoset, n-do etc.

just came across this gem on the interwebs: http://graphicrants.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/specular-brdf-reference.html saving it to my HDD :D just out of curiosity, what is the term "m" used to describe? for example part of the code is: (n.m) i know it's n dot "something", just don't know what the m is.
Here is a small update on one of the car (want to finish this before friday). So far its at 1500tris (half) and 3000 tris (total). One question, since this will not have interior at all, what would be a good tri count on a simple vehicle like this? Also those are not N-gons (I detached the headlights)
There's a post on autodesk's area as well: http://area.autodesk.com/forum/autodesk-3ds-max/autodesk-3ds-max--3ds-max-design-2013/3dsmax-2013--big-issue-on-normal-maps/ by a colleague of Xoliul's.. Edit: Haha, which is actually you, r-a-n-d-o-m. I am an idiot ;-)
Well not really a box per se, more like an image overlay fired/baked/autoclaved/printed...whatever the process may be onto the outside? Yeah was a little disappointed when received in the mail. Nevertheless still evokes passing comment via colleagues at work, mostly humorous anecdotal jibes by-'n-large :)
Great work so far guys! Gav, Your model has a lot of character :) Maybe for tying in the arm, it would be funny if the hand was a clamp for holding a wine bottle with a mechanized corkscrew. Quick n easy drinking :) Vulture pet looks awesome Looking forward to seeing more from the Civil War
