arent they going to need commercial licenses to publish anything they make though? i imagine a lot of modders who make stuff for steam workshop are working on either student versions or pirated versions of the software, neither of which you are legally allowed to make money off. hasnt this got massive ramifications?
That's really cool how you blocked out your concept. May I ask how you did it? I'm a student, so I'd love to hear about your workflow :D . I'm also doing this environment. Can't wait to see what you produce! Keep it up :D .
Yes very unrealistic due to the volatile atmosphere, you are not competing with other students only, but also with other professionals that are coming off the constant layoff present in the industry. Most realistic situation for fresh graduates involves either freelancing or finding low end jobs and work on the portfolio…
This probably won't mean much coming from le novice student, but I just wanted to drop by and comment how amazing this is! Modelling and texturing is fantastic and design wise I genuinely love your taste in how you mixed old and new technologies. Thanks for le inspiration and great work!!
have you considered starting up a student edition, allowing universities to start adopting it? that's probably one of the biggest reasons for uptake of Autodesk products vs anything else at this point. it's like smoking... we all know it's bad for you, but they get to you early enough that you struggle to break the habit!
I stopped reading there. You need to look at your work with more modesty or it wont happen really. To be truly honest with you what you have there is looking the same quality to me as most of the students getting out of school. But I think EQ nailed it. Keep at the thing and restart fresh projects.
Second what "Another Caveman" said, hit them up and see whats happening. https://www.gamedevmap.com/ Also keep an eye on this thread - http://polycount.com/discussion/182295/internship-thread-apprenticeship-thread-for-students-or-juniors-summer-or-year-long-please-post/p1?new=1 Good luck :)
I'd also make sure you label your 'school projects' in your resume. I was confused at :Foster’s Home Board Game Design Project It sounds as if you are trying to say you were Art Director for Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends Board Game. Not a student project based on Fosters.
some interesting insight on GameDev.net http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/topic.asp?topic_id=493821 some things I was not yet aware of - over 6,000 visitors from 40 countries - 40% international guests, the others germans (I don't count as a german) - two professionals to every one student ratio
