It doesn't seem easy to navigate as a pedestrian. The layout needs a lot of work. It also is a rather noisy composition with no focal point. All the lines in the image the eye wants to follow lead towards a blue foggy nothing.
@sltrOlsson Thank you for the advice! I'll definitely start by making a thread for my Asylum, it's my (hopefully) best work, as well as the latest. The layout advice definitely helps too, and I agree, simple is better!
Thank you for your help Noors. The last thing I wasnt sure about was what the render size should be. But, with this last example, you specified to make it the exact size of the level layout! Thanks Again :)
hmm.. i tried the layout option and what it seems to do is just scale things to pack them into the 0-1 space, leaving their individual density alone. i will try uv deluxe though. thanks
Take some inspiration from this: http://youtu.be/ykHWYiyikJM Excellent terrain, excellent layout planning, great scale. But weak textures, no minor details, and quite possibly the worst camera work I've ever seen.
I agree with Brad. In addition it looks like you really got problems with your smoothing groups. Can you show us your uv layout? Maybe you need to break up the uv's
or storyboarding, layout, camera setup, cinematographer, dialog editor/facial animator, etc etc etc :) If you want to do camera work & camera animtion, practice Storyboarding too! focus in on something (pun intended)!
I like the layout, but I hate the lightbox oh so much. I only looked at one image because of it. edit: am i alone in this partially irrational hatred? I really don't know.
Yeah, I should have noticed that. Was late last night and I wanted to go to bed :( I might do a quick re-layout of the head sheet tonight onto a 256x128 to make it more consistent.
I'd add a decal texture and some decals to break up the repetativeness of it; also more dramatic lighting for the final image will help. Looks good so far, pretty clean and good use of texture layouts.
