Worked this week on a blockout for an obstacle in my game: A stone pillar for a wizards' tower. The idea is to put a (magical) light into the cavity in the middle to make it a bit more interesting. And here in-game just for a quick size-check (no material applied, that's why it's so dark):
The roof texture in particular is looking flat at the moment. Try to give it some slight variation, both in colour and tile shape and placement. Keep an eye on your texel densities too, the white stone is currently looking blurrier than the other tiling textures.
NAIMA: no, unfortunately I cant find the source site anymore so I can't credit the artist. I'd say its tiled stone texture on the small rocks with some kind of vertex painted dirt on individual basis (just a guess though).
Nice textures so far but I would say that at the minute your gold is reading a little flat and non-metallic. Would be nice to see some smaller meshes breaking up the symmetry. perhaps wall sconces, fireplace, crumbling stone etc.
Yeah i know and they did a cool job. i was just stunned seeing that the golden steps all around my place are pokestops (golden steps are stones put into the cobblestone sidewalks, that contain the informations of jewish citizens that lived there and were killed in the holocaust)
nice man. I like the first one more because it has a stronger silhouette. The second one doesn't make use of form changes as well. Really interested in how you solve the negative space between the turret and the floating rune stones.
Great start, I would say add some color variation to your textures, your wood textures are all the same brown, your stone textures are all the same color, add some subtle variance in color and it will make a huge difference
i really like the stone textures - you've got a lot of nice color variation in there. it'd be really nice if you could get that in the wood texture as well. it's got a very monochromatic dodge/burned look right now and feels neglected, comparatively.
Similar suggestion... For searching through multiple files, I rarely do in PS. Recently found 'fast stone image viewer'(it's FREEWARE~) and replaced it for 'xnview.' You can assign hotkey to open the selected image(s) with apps of your choice as well.
I wouldn't mind paying $25 to be told that I look good period... I'm definitely down with the mid-dark gray. Definitely need to see what the 'new and improved' logo / tag is before I were to etch my decision in stone.
