      try baking with xNormal, you might get much better results. ive also encountered baking errors in Max but only in 2013 and not 2012-below

      Hey I have same problem in 2016 and 2017, I found 1 way is use the default viewport. He is more slow but selection is accurate.

      Revert to a driver before the latest. Worked for me. I've had this issue on several machines at work with the latest nvidia driver. Both in Maya 2010 and 2011.

      On 2010, but it's been there since the dawn of time, so I assume it is still there in 2011 - utilities tab > bitmap/photometric paths. If the button isn't there, check in "more..."

      still no go, i tried using the custom map option I do get an error when i try to select the MIA material x option Im also on maya 2016
