very cool of you jesse--wish I'd thought of it when I parted ways with my old graphire a few months back. Graphires aren't too expensive, but to a student or recent grad or hobbyist every penny counts. And graphires are freaking tanks--those things last for forever! Kudos!
hey Junkers, good to see another canberra AIE student on polycount which year did you graduate? you should check out poop's website, he does hair pretty well and has a tutorial on it. having a hair brush preset in photoshop makes it quick and relatively easy.
Hey Zero this is some of the best student work i've ever seen. I'm really impressed with the quality of your projects. well done man good luck out there :P attending GDC by chance? If so goto this thread and meet up with us! http://boards.polycount.net/showthread.php?t=61375
^ he is a mentor at emily carr university, if you know what I mean. probably some of students who're expected to pick up marketing bits from him don't fall under any other tangible category, so there you have better than "'l'artist" already, but still not saying much.
I am a student and I have a 17" screen, and... the weight of the laptop is a pain, but I have lost inches off my waist line. I wouldn't give up those 2 inches, my battery life was about 1hour 45minutes. The only thing I use my desktop for is rendering.
That looks really nice! Are you planning on texturing it? I'm a Game Production Student, and texturing is something I'm really trying to perfect, I would to see your workflow for texturing this object if you plan on doing so. Otherwise really nice design, I'm interested to see what the sheath will look like for it!
Oh this is absolutely amazing, my honest congratulations on your progress :) Am curious, do you work in the industry or are you a student ? And would you be nice enough to explain how do you transfer matcap information to the texture ? Or was it just a render and overlayed in photoshop ? Thanks so much again for this…
@Bunifazzuy These are great! Love the design sheet for the rover. Nicely done. Here's a recent painting I did for my students. Out project is reimagining Moby Dick. This was my take on a keyframe environment. The whale/creature breeches the water and creates large glacier formations, impaling ships leaving graveyards in…
AMAGAWD! This is cool and this is what all students should learn from the beginning. Really stellar work. ONLY crit is what some have said about you shadows beeing a bit too dark and"colour burn"''ish. Adding a blue tint would take you 1 minute with a colour layer.
I still a student but I've thought about this - the bottom line is, in order for you to do what you want you must sacrifice something very important to you - i think it applies to pretty much everything..not just game art - being said, my friends think im crazy xD
