Oops! Maya, my bad. My course focuses a lot on digital animation, but not really the ins and outs of environment modeling tricks, so I keep getting stuck on some of the small, 'you should know this by now' details. I'll look into some of those a little further. Thanks!
Pick up Digital Tutor's Introduction to Maya dvd's. Definitely one of the best ways to learn the interface. O and marking menu's (ctrl or maybe its hold right click not sure, my hand just knows where it is lol) and spacebar are your friend :) Makes workflow easier
Wow, I've been following you for years and it's nice to see that your incredible hand-painted texture work and great modeling merge so well with your ability to sculpt digitally now, too! Great work BoBo, this is very inspiring. It's going straight into my inspiration folder!
hey, I recognize that room in your digitals http://sacland.submatrix.org/crap/misc/03.jpg <--- my rendition of christian's little room LOVED that class. the site itself has had all the critiques it needs... I feel like I showed up late for the party! hehe.
I love your style, Ferg. So much character and form in a lot of your sketches. Looking through a bunch of your goals, seem to be very similar to mine. Especially the part about having to up the contrast with all my digital paints. Keep it up, mate. -caseyjones
Eric: Yep, that's exactly why I love it. More cool stuff, less fluff to sift through. Wouldn't have it any other way! I'm pretty sure the professional to amateur ratio here is better than a lot of digital art forums... and that's a good thing in my book!
These models are great btw, had one at EA: http://www.freedom-of-teach.com/products/prod_category.php?sect=products&pid=cat_anatomy If you could see it closeup you'd appreciate just how long it might take you to recreate digitally, and this thing doesn't even have a skin layer.

Im a 3D modeller who want to quickly develope my own prop/environment/character concept before modelling. My skill level in both Digital Painting and Sculpting is beginner, i feel a bit more comfortable with Zbrush though. Which path should i take and what are the pros and cons of the 2 tools?
