16 bit images are not generally necessary. The only map type where you'll likely notice a difference would be a height/displacement map, and only in certain scenarios, so if you're using displacement mapping in Toolbag, you may want to use 16 bit for the height map.
16 - 17 hours in and here is what I have so far. =P The rig goes a bit funny in preview mode but when I test it on a device it looks fine. [ame=" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igQHZXmrfTI"]ZOMG WIP Hour 16 of Development - YouTube[/ame]
no, this doesnt resolve problem(. every time i start quixel this pattern creates again. it's seems like curvature map saves into this pattern with depth 16 bit. strange thing is that it slows down working with shapes cause if i create such a pattern by myself (16 bit) no problems occure.
nns_tga covers the whole lot, from 4-colour through 16, 256 and onto more-or-less full colour, and a compressed texel format that gives a smaller size than 16-colour but allows you to use more. Also has support for 8 and 32-colour alpha
I'm going to wait for Titan 3; I'm a Titan guy  Probably with 16 gigs of vRam, although I don't know if you truthfully will need anything more then 16. Anyone watch the nVidia presentation, the girl screaming; I can afford that ?
Hi Teessider, Can you try to bake your normal map in PNG (as this format allows 16 bits)? If you process your normal map in the graph, be sure the next filters are also in 16 Bits per channel (the yellow link is bigger in 16b).
Sorry to be a total newb, but... If the screen colour depth for iPhone 3G is 16-bit, and alpha blending is free if I use PNG, does that mean that if I save my diffuse out as a 16-bit, I have to save my alpha separately as a PNG?
Hey Patrick, it seems to work with 8 bit files instead of 16 bit. So i think you can untick "16 bit" before creating a project. I still don't think it works with 2.0.4 Synaesthesia..I'll have to double check some other time though.
Didn't Jon Jones work on Gore when he was like 16-17 or something? That's the exception rather than the norm, though. I don't think most people get in until at least 18-21. You could probably get an internship at 16 if you were really good.
lov'n that 16. study. As an overall advice, I'd say try to use the graphical strength of your darkest values as a compositional element instead of as a space filler. Keep things a bit lighter (like 16) and push the critical areas darker. 14 is just ripe and ready for a few strokes of darker values.
