Hey Gir, a Student from GA, berlin here. I'll try to explain my workflow. (3Ds max) I started off with a Box. Gave it A TS and Spherified it. Made a spline Circle (with 8 sides). Cut in the new edges on my mesh. During the entire time i only worked on 1/4 of the modell cause it's pretty symmetrical . For the smaller holes,…
Beforehand, this is not so much about how to model a weird shape, but about how to approach modelling a piece I'm not 100% sure about, so apologies if this is not the right place to ask. Hey guys, so I've not much experience with 3D overall, but I was asked to tackle the modelling part of a group project since I was the…
Hey, Starting to get into 3D modeling and I've run into a small problem, where I want to extrude one face into a shape over top of another face, where the two faces will share a set of vertices after the extrude. I was trying to model a tank, but have moved past the problem now, so all I have is this quick example I made…
I think your problem is that you are focusing too much on the side view port. If i had to guess, you created it form a plane/subdivided box maybe, and traced around the objects silhouette. If the above is your reference, Then my advice would be: Side profile looks great! The rest, Not so much. That's the danger in looking…
Hey guys I need some help...I'm trying to model the phone cord of a payphone in 3ds max....like this one.. My plan was to create the cord with a spline then create a cylinder and Extrude Along Spline...then grab all the edge loops and extrude them in a little to create those ridges... well...the problem is that on the…
Hey guys, I had a interesting question. Ive tried searching but am not finding a great answer to it. Im trying to make a tube frame. The attached image isnt what im making but gives an idea of what Im going for. What Im trying to do is figure out the fastest most efficient way to model it. I use 3ds max and have tried…
just a nice commercial script I found the other day: http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/polygon-creator And this is how it actually works: You select either 3 or 4 connected splines and run the script it will then loop through the 2 opposing axis of the to be created patch and creates quads this is an example with 3…
Thanks for the advises but I cant really get it right. Danielnm, does that work with two turbosmooths as well? I use one with Smoothing Groups at 2 Iterations and then a normal turbosmooth over. I get this result: It looks like more geo is the answer but I cant get it to look nice anyhow. I have spent ~3-5hours on this…
Hello evereyone! Currently I'm struggleing with a shape in 3ds max. It's a curved shape with square holes in it. I tried million ways to solve it, but it's always pinchy.I watched tons of tutorials about this, but they built these kind of holes in cylinders or on flat surfaces and my shape isn't like that. If i create more…
It really depends what you're doing, if it's for a low poly game asset it doesn't need to connect, instead, you should make it what is called floating geo. If you'd like I could make a half hour tutorial tomorrow about creating a high poly flashlight and talk about why you do what you do and whatnot. Quads: I made a…
