I hope I didnt confuse you Muzz :) , the closest example i can give is of TEN24 studios in UK. They scan people and make awesome stuff like for Spartan Ops (HALO) and have the ability to do 3D scale models using 3D printers.
About ready to call this done soon. Hafta start printing portfolio stuff for the conference in hopes of getting a job. Ack, I need a new printer cartridge. Anyways, might post another pic with one more texture pass on her with some doodads/medals etc.
Fun update - 3D prints! Hot off the press, my cousin has been kind enough to use his new 3D printer to make some sweet prints of this guy. He's still a bit gooey, gonna clean him up and paint him soon!
I imagine the role would involve sexyfying all Activision marketing images. Easy on the surface but if there is a quota...a quota and deadlines...AND follow up with printers/ magazine editors/ online review site editors...could be tough. Maybe that's why there's a suggestion you can train assistants or interns.
That's what I thought too, Pior. Communication is a little tricky, 99% of 3d printers seem to be in Poland? :D But I'm pretty sure they want me to combine things into as few meshes as possible, one single mesh if I want it printed as one piece. They sent this picture as an example...
Not dead yet, just been sidetracked by a 3D printer at work. going with Vray+displacement map this time instead of Marmoset. Does anyone know how to get UDIM textures to apply automatically in Max with Vray? without having to offset textures manually. Not having much luck with google
WIP Hi world, this is my Yakuza artwork, which I developed during my participation in the ArtStation challenge "Neo Tokyo: Exponential Reality" in the Film/VFX Character Art category (rendered). This experience was incredibly exciting and allowed me to navigate the entire 3D pipeline, from likeness sculpting, modeling, and…
Oh, so they're getting 3d printed? Check the resolution of the printer, see how small a detail can be reproduced before you put too much effort into things that won't be seen. If the details must be in geometry, then Zbrush or another sculpting app is the way to go, using the design as an alpha.
Any chance you'd be interested in putting your model up on Thingiverse? Your shield was a HUGE help in making a foam board version for my son's costume a few years ago. Now that I've gotten my hands on a 3D printer, I'd love to try printing it out!
Even if you could sculpt it to a high fidelity (which would be difficult) I can't imagine the printer being able to handle it. Fibremesh could do it but again you probably couldn't print it. @AtticusMars suggestion of just using a real-world prop sounds like the best solution.
