dont be so defensive. you've had some kind of retort or standoffish remark to just about every critique or comment. have someone else read out loud what you've typed and you'll understand why everyone is not liking the way you respond. also, try EVERYTHING suggested. if you dont like it, change it back. it never hurts to…
your wrinkles are so intense! it looks like the reference you found was the wrinkliest pair of pants on the internet. remember less is more. especially if this guy is going to be animated, if you have a bunch of wrinkles it'll look off. so you want to find a neutral amount to paint on. and dont forget to run sharpen filter…
What do you mean by objectively? The dark outline is there because it makes the nose readable from a distance and it's how the light casts. Just look at the post before this where the head is smaller, you can still see the nose defined. I looked at your linked portfolio as well and you have the same darkness around the…
-I- noticed that you noticed that he didn't notice that you noticed, and I just came all over myself. If only your painting skills were as good as your perceptual skills - you'd have no contenders, really.
I would agree with that. The way you have him right now makes him look more like a Wii character which I don't think you're going for? (Since you compared him to the WoW male).
He has come a long way. I think you should call this peice finished at this point and take what you learned to get started on your next one. Maybe try to give yourself a tighter deadline for it, though.
not talking about color, but value. dark versus light. right now if you just put color over everything, they'd all be the same value, because your grayscale is all the same... if you squint, or blur the image, it's all the same shade of gray. this might not matter, depending on your methods of coloring it. but looking at…
Don't really want to add fuel to this fire but he specifically said that he WOULDN'T expect you to take years to study anatomy just that you could probly grab some ref online and fix the model and texture accordingly. His crit was quite frankly excellent and obviously he spent the time to help you out man. I think your…
I think you need to look at your stuff much more objectively. Look at that nostril. Why would you want to surround it by some dark outline ? Think of light falling on your object, pick two tones, and place the light and darks accordingly. And collapse all those layers, they ll only create bad habits. Also, paint the same…
In my opinion there is a difference between constructive criticism and saying someone needs a better grasp of anatomy that years of study will take. And -I- noticed you never noticed that I noticed and pointed out that it was all great and useful critique too. Did you notice that?
