When it comes to scaling, I'm often in the situation were I cannot use Global or Local coordinates for transformation. In that cast I mainly use Normal as Transform Orientation and set Pivot Point to Active Element. Works for vertex, edge and face normals. As a keyboard shortcut you have to press S for scale and the axis…
No, it's totally different. With View transform you move in three world axes at once. This is ok for tweaking organic shapes, but you can't be precise with it. Workplane automatically chooses one of XY, XZ and YZ planes, the one closest to screen space. Yes this can be achieved in blender with hotkeys or with…
@Justo I'm pretty sure the default MMB transform axis constaint shortcuts are hardcoded. I couldn't find anything relevant to change using the "middle mouse" keyword in the search bar. I have custom shortcuts for individual axis/plane constraints in Keymap > Transform Modal Map if you're interested. It would be nice to be…
Here's another one I don't get about Blender's rotations and pivots. I rotate an object and can scale it across one axis just fine with the Transform Orientations set to Local. But if I freeze transformations (killing its local transforms), and create a Custom Pivot mimicking it's previous local transformation, scaling…
There is one edge case where it is easier and that is with the "Closest" "Snap With" option. This one allows you to snap the vertex closest to the element you are snapping to to that object. This at least covers my cases to 90%. EDIT: Just to have it mentioned once: Remember that the hotkey Ctrl+. in Object mode switches…
@wilson66 Don't use the outliner for parenting operations. Instead select the objects you want to unparent and then press Alt+P. Then select Unparent and keep Transform.
