Do you mean to say "lose" instead of "use"? In that case you always lose the ability to make changes to the primitive operator. A way to work around this is, that you set the 3D cursor to the origin of the moved object, delete the object and then add the object back in with the operator.
@Justo Try Object > Constraints > Add Constraints (with Targets) > Relationship > Child Of. Note that when parenting the active object becomes the parent but with constraints it's the opposite.
@Justo Looping through all objects in the scene should be extremely fast, you can do it with hundreds and not notice a pause. I'd need to confirm this again, but I think an alternative way to hide objects would be to make a collection, disable its visibility, then add objects to it by script. You can then toggle the…
@Justo there is a distinction between the selected object and the active object. While the active object is both selected and active. The selected objects are just that, selected. i believe luis is just seperating the objects which don't have the type mesh. Like lamps etc. Since those are not needed and can cause errors.…
at the 3:00 - about sync selection in the outliner. Isn't it like that already? If I select multiple objects in my outliner, it is selecting the respective objects in the viewport.
do we know of a way to get the 3ds max/maya-style wireframe overlay on the selected object in blender? that's something that has been bugging me for a while since the outline isn't as useful to identifying what's selected and for when going into edit mode. also draws in an annoying fashion on single sided objects when…
Just noticed this new tool was added, Knife Project where you can " use objects to cookie-cut into the mesh". http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:2.6/Manual/Modeling/Meshes/Editing/Subdividing/Knife_Subdivide#Knife_Project It works this way: you select the boundary edges on the object you wanna project, and then the…
@wilson66 the lines that format the object name appear to be these: https://github.com/blender/blender-addons/blob/master/io_scene_obj/export_obj.py#L436-L442 According to that, if you name the container object the same as its data ("part_001_low" for both the Object and the Mesh data), then it will use a single name like…
I have a question regarding Blender 3.1 and OBJ exports. I have a problem here that I already had with older versions Blender, but I knew how to fix it there. This method does not seem to work in Blender 3.1 anymore. The problem is with the naming of the objects/ meshes after OBJ export. Blender 3.1 changes the names of…
I'm missing a Modo feature in Blender 2.8, and that is to have the tweak/ sculpt tools to only have an influence on selected faces/ vertices. In Modo, I can select a couple of faces, activate the tweak tool, and all unselected polygons will automatically be ignored by the tool. Is something similar possible somehow in…
